25 Days of Prayer || Day 19

13And they were bringing children to him that he might touch them, and the disciples rebuked them. 14But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. 15Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.”  Mark 10:13-15

Gracious and Almighty God, Creator and Ruler over all, you are on the throne. We ascribe all honor and glory due your name.

Forgive us if we think that the education of our children is not our responsibility. Forgive us if our primary focus is on our bottom line rather than the educational successes of our children. Forgive us for thwarting the children from you.

As business and faith leaders, forgive us for overlooking the needs before us. Show us how to serve schools and children as coaches, mentors, and guides, using the gifts you have given us. Forgive us for being slow to act when our youth need us most.
“To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.”  Proverbs 21:3

Heavenly Father, give us eyes to see our city through the lens of a child. May we welcome and bless them as Jesus did, and be known as a city that honors all children as image-bearers of you. As business and faith leaders, keep our souls disturbed over the needs of our children. We ask that you stir our hearts towards action. Prepare the hearts of our business leaders with grace to consider providing the youth with opportunities of mentorship and internships. How can we share our skill sets, especially when opportunities arise for magnet schools and STEM schools that need business leaders to inspire their students?

Jeremiah 8:7 says, “Seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into exile. Pray to the LORD for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper.” May we be a united city in faith and business, considering all the opportunities our children need.

“The Lord is my light and salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”  Psalm 27:1

In the precious name of our Lord and Savior, Amen.
