Opportunities to Support Your Partner School

As the end of the academic year approaches, teachers begin to reflect on all that has been accomplished by students, and themselves. Similarly, to racing, this last month can feel like the last few miles of a marathon, you’re sweaty and tired. Yet, it can be some of the most adrenaline and serotonin-rich parts of the whole school year for teachers.

How can church volunteers walk alongside staff and students during this time? By celebrating! During the month of May, there is Field Day, classroom parties, Teacher Appreciation Week and much more. What could it look like for you to reach out to your school and ask, “How can we celebrate you this month”? There is an opportunity to support our teachers while having fun with students.

This year, we have several churches supporting schools during Field Day. We can’t wait to get all the pictures back to share, below are some pictures we have already received. The last day of school in MNPS and the FSSD is Friday, May 25th. Could your church drop off thank you cards for teachers? Could a couple of volunteers offer to be on the welcoming committee on the last day of school? The possibilities are endless.

Let us know how you choose to celebrate your school! We love hearing stories about the impact you are making in a school and church partnership.

Can’t help during these last two weeks of the academic year? Check in with your school liaison before the end of the year to hear how you can support staff and the building throughout the summer. Schools will sometimes ask for support with beautification projects, classroom set-up, and with supply drives.

Thank you for all you have done this year, and what you will continue to do in the 2024-2025 academic school year. Your work does not go unnoticed; it is life changing.
