Partnering for Literary Greatness

On February 11th, nine volunteers from Nehemiah Missionary Baptist Church got to join Brick Church Middle School for their Literacy & Excellence Night. Amongst other partners, Nehemiah MBC volunteers got to come together with students, families, teachers and staff to serve food, provide donations, and spend time celebrating reading as a community. As school liaison and Community Achieves coordinator Cordenus Eddings shared in her newsletter, ā€œThe evening was filled with engaging activities, presentations, and interactive workshops designed to promote reading and literacy skills for studentsā€.

Both Pastor Thomas Hunter and U4H church coordinator Carlatina Hampton shared photos from the event and discussed how much they enjoyed being able to work with the school, which is a new partnership for their church that started January of this year. Decked out is BCMS swag, volunteers got to witness the student book giveaway that was a feature of the night, along with student performances and other resource distributions. It is so encouraging when our partner churches can come alongside our schools and be a part of something super special for our families and communities!
