Clergy Response To School Crises Training
Operation Andrew Group is inviting all pastors and church staff to participate in an important training on Monday, March 24, from 6-8 at Belmont University. The training will center around how clergy can particularly respond in the aftermath of a school crisis.
Last fall, the team at Operation Andrew Group began having conversations about our collective response to Trauma. We know from the State of Nashville that the Greater Nashville area has a disproportionate experience of Trauma, with a significant 44% of ALL adults having experienced Trauma.
With the recent rise in school crisis events in the United States, including here in our own community, there is an increasing need for support for students, teachers, administrators, and their families in the aftermath of these tragic events. Religious leaders have the unique opportunity to respond and care for local schools in the wake of tragedy, but often wonder how can we do so in a way that is well-informed on the specific kinds of trauma and needs for their communities in the context of these disasters?
In partnership with Operation Andrew Group, Belmont University’s School of Mental Health Counseling is grateful to offer free workshop – with dinner included – designed specifically to equip YOU as a pastor and religious leader for these unfortunate inevitabilities and we hope that you’ll be able to join us on Monday, March 24th from 6-8 pm.
The training will be facilitated by Dr. Steve Berry, LPC, a mental health counselor with over two decades of experience specializing in school crisis-response, Cory Bishop, MFT-Trainee, a PhD student and mental health counselor with an additional theological degree and ministerial experience, and Malcolm McDole, a masters student in mental health counseling, also with an additional theological degree and ministerial experience.
Given limited seating, we request that you RSVP promptly to secure your spot.
