Partnership Highlight: Concord Community Church and Henry Maxwell Elementary School
One sure sign of the dawn of a new academic year is the many “back to school” advertisements plastered throughout every store. Families and students fight the crowds to stock up on essentials and ensure they arrive on the first day of school with everything they need. Amid planning and preparing, teachers also spend hours selecting just the right supplies in order to best equip their students for the year ahead.
Concord Community Church decided to alleviate some of this pressure for teachers at Henry Maxwell Elementary by providing “back to school” buckets. Henry Maxwell Principal, Dr. Bernice Russell, stated that she was highlighting a focus on teacher encouragement this year, prioritizing school staff and community partners collaborating to fill teachers’ mental and emotional buckets. Concord Community Church Coordinator, Karen Haze, took this idea and ran with it, organizing a Serve Day to fill literal buckets for teachers. Volunteers of all ages gathered to lovingly pack buckets full of hand-picked school supplies to be given to teachers during the first week of school.
Thank you Concord Community Church for loving and serving our teachers at Henry Maxwell Elementary so well!
