U4H 20 Days of Prayer || Day 10

Oh God, it is a privilege we come together to specifically pray for the emotional well-
being including the ability of our teachers to cope with both positive and negative
emotions as they start the new year.

Father, it must be overwhelming for teachers to jump back into the daily grind of school
after a summer break no matter how much they love the teaching profession and
students.  We are reminded now that teachers often carry a heavy emotional load.
Teachers are often the first people that arrive at the school and some of the last to
leave.  These men and women sacrificially give themselves to teach, mentor and lead
students and encourage and coach parents. They are the ones during the school day
that wipe away the tears of a child whose parent is ill. Teachers are the individuals that
see first-hand the neglect of the children in the classroom.  They see the children that
may be struggling to fit in and make friends.  It is many times a heavy load to carry.

We pray that you will guard their minds and hearts throughout the school day.  We pray
that you guide and direct them in their interaction with each child to be present,
nurturing and supportive.  We pray that you will give them wisdom and discernment to
face and overcome the challenges of the day.  We ask you to give strength to the weary
teacher today. We cry out to you for the teacher that is personally struggling with family
crisis.  Remind our teachers that the Spirit will pray on their behalf when they are at a
loss for words. Please give teachers insight and courage to reach out for help when life
seems out of control.

We ask that you surround each teacher with a tribe of encouragers that will build them
up with words of affirmation and support.  Remind our teachers that You are always with
them to strengthen and to guide them.   Thank you for hearing our prayer.

In Jesus name, Amen.

“The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not
grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength
to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and
weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will
renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not
grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40: 28-31
