They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.
Isaiah 61:3
Mentees desire personal, professional, relational, and spiritual mentoring that will help them live out their faith.
According to the State of Nashville, this is how the
Oak Project meets these felt needs:
Personal
Nashville Gen Z Christians want to find an authentic way to follow Jesus that connects with the world they live in. They are hungry to be more like Jesus, and to know who God made them to be. The challenge is that of all the generations, the Millennials are most anxious, and Gen Z are most lonely.
The Oak Project provides mentors who bring experience and resilience to help them overcome these stumbling blocks and to better understand their identity in Christ.
Professional
Getting ahead professionally in Nashville is particularly challenging. Nearly half of employed Millennials are looking for better paying work. Workplace satisfaction is 22% worse than national norms (55% vs 77%).
Oak Project is a genuine form of connection, community, and resource to navigate and address career issues in the context of the Christian faith.
Relational
The people of Nashville most value friendships, yet only 36% of churched adults are satisfied with their relationships. All generations want help with their relationships
The Oak Project provides a face-to face, personalized experience with a mentor to help work through relational ups and downs using biblical principles of loving God and loving others.
Spiritual
Most applicants who enroll in the program want guidance with how to live out their faith in their homes, workplace, and neighborhoods. The dynamics of each mentoring group will vary, but they all hold to the same spiritual tenets of the Christian faith.
The Oak Project works to raise and spiritually prepare future faith-filled leaders who will positively impact others and glorify God.
